Two people are dead following a head-on crash on New Year’s Eve just northwest of Brockville, Ont., according to provincial police.
The collision happened at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 29 near New Dublin Road, Ontario Provincial Police wrote in a media release.
Both drivers, a 66-year-old woman from Smiths Falls, and a 66-year-old man from Markham, Ont. were pronounced dead at the scene, OPP said.
A lone passenger, who was riding with the man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police added.
OPP Const. Joey Mason told CBC the man had been driving a Honda sedan, while the woman had been driving a Ford SUV.
As of 6:40 p.m., County Road 29 was still closed near the scene of the crash as investigations continue.
