As the community rings in the new year, many public services and businesses across North Bay are taking a break today
Residents across North Bay are reminded that many services and businesses are closed or operating on modified schedules today for New Year’s Day.
Government offices, such as North Bay City Hall, are closed today. Many retail outlets are also closed, including Northgate Shopping Centre, as well as grocery stores like Independent, No Frills, Food Basics, and Walmart.
Public transit is affected, with North Bay Transit buses not operating today.
Waste services are paused for the holiday. The City’s waste diversion facility and the Merrick Landfill are both closed, and there is no garbage or recycling pickup today. Collection will be delayed by one day through the remainder of the week.
The City says residents can dispose of their Christmas trees at the Public Works Yard, located at 1399 Franklin Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until Jan. 10. All ornaments, tinsel and lights must be removed before drop-off, and Christmas trees will not be collected at the curb with regular garbage.
The Beer Store and LCBO stores are also observing holiday schedules and are closed today.
