A water main break has led to road closures and water shutdowns in parts of downtown Toronto Friday, according to a city spokesperson.
The break began Thursday evening on Front Street E. between Scott Street and Church Street, City of Toronto spokesperson Krystal Carter said in an emailed statement.
She said emergency crews have restored water in the area and are working to repair the road.
Eastbound lanes in the area are closed for the time being, she said.
“We recognize how disruptive this is for residents, businesses, and commuters in the area, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work to resolve it,” said Carter.
Water main breaks can be common this time of year due to sudden changes in temperature, she said.
The Toronto Transit Commission says there is no impact to service in the area.
