Mr Hart said he wanted to give Bobby a home as soon as he saw a photo of the six-year-old dog.
“When I found out he’d been here for three years I couldn’t believe it, that’s a long time for a dog to be in kennels,” he said.
“I came up to meet Bobby and we seemed to get on alright.
“We went and sat in his kennel… it took him a few minutes and then he jumped up on the couch and flumped on me.”
The trust said Bobby watched hundreds of dogs come and go since he arrived at Woodside and was repeatedly overlooked.
It added: “His colour, age and a common misperception that greyhounds need lots of exercise, were all factors that prevented Bobby finding his forever home – plus an unwillingness to share his toys.”
