A London, Ont., man is facing charges for aggravated assault after emergency services found a woman with life-threatening injuries in the city’s south end on Christmas Day.

Emergency services were called to the area of Sandringham Crescent and Wilkins Street at around 8:25 p.m. on Dec. 25, after reports that a woman was hurt and in need of medical attention, police said in a Friday news release.

A 29-year-old woman was found and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police identified a 33-year-old man as a suspect. He was located and arrested at a residence in the southwest end of the city a short time later.

The man and the victim were in a previous intimate relationship, according to police.

The 33-year-old has been charged with one count of aggravated assault. Police are not identifying him to protect the identity of the victim.

The accused remains in custody, police said Friday, and the victim has been released from hospital.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone who may have information in connection with the incident to contact them at 519-661-5670 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
