Documents submitted, on behalf of the applicant, said the proposed conversion of the former pub would “improve the character” of the area by bringing an empty site back into use.

“The loss of the Newcastle Arms would not be detrimental to the local area due to the vast amount of public houses located nearby which more than serves the needs of the local and wider population,” a report submitted with the planning application added.

The report said 19 customer car parking spaces would be provided on the site, including one parent and child space, one accessible space, and one electric vehicle charging space.

Parking for six bikes would also be provided at the front of the site, planning documents said.

According to Nottingham City Council, the planning application is expected to be decided by 18 February.
