There are delays on the M11 motorway and several lane closures due to a vehicle fire, National Highways has said.
The incident happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 7a and junction eight, near Stansted Airport and close to the Hertfordshire-Essex border, at about 18:20 GMT.
Traffic was previous held, but a lane has since reopened closed and Essex Fire Service has extinguished the blaze.
National Highways warned on social media, external that drivers should expect delays.
