It has been a while since St. John’s International had a non-stop connection to the eastern seaboard of the United States, but the airport authority says trying to attract such a flight is always near the top of the list.
YYT added capacity both at home and abroad last year with WestJet expanding transatlantic service to London Gatwick and Dublin, Ireland as well as introducing a route to Paris.
Airport authority President and CEO Dennis Hogan says a St. John’s to Winnipeg flight added last year is also performing well.
“We previously had a route into Newark, which is a significant hub for connections on to many other places, so we do work with airlines in putting for the business case for them investing in those routes from YYT,” says Hogan.
