The GoFundMe campaign for a Dundas man who was shot dead last weekend has identified him as a single dad of a three-year-old girl.
Twenty-five-year-old Zachary Shuman leaves behind his daughter, Briar, who will now be raised by her grandparents since her “mother is not in the picture,” says the online fundraiser.
“Kevin and Jennifer Shuman…are now facing the unimaginable loss of their son while stepping in to raise their granddaughter,” says the GoFundMe, which was set up by the family of Zachary’s brother-in-law.
“Zachary’s sudden death has deeply shaken his family.”

The campaign goes on to say that Zachary’s sister, Lauren, cannot attend his funeral because she gave birth to her son a few days before the homicide on July 27.
“Her son will never get to meet his uncle Zack. This tragedy has left a hole that cannot be filled,” the family writes in the online fundraiser.
The family says the donations will help with the costs of raising Zachary’s daughter and supporting his family as they heal.
As of Thursday evening, the GoFundMe campaign has raised 96 per cent of its stated $28,000 goal.

The shooting investigation remains ongoing. Detectives say it all unfolded in a Metro parking lot in Dundas, where Zachary and another person had a “brief interaction.”
Officers then received multiple calls around 5 p.m. to an apartment building located at 77 Governors Rd.
Police arrived to find Zachary unresponsive in an adjacent parking lot.
Witnesses saw a blue Ford Edge leaving the scene. Investigators are still searching for the suspect and that vehicle.
It’s unclear if the two drivers knew each other and whether the shooting was targeted.
