A car park in the centre of Huddersfield has closed for six months to allow for refurbishment work to be completed.

Work to Upperhead Row Car Park, which is situated above the town’s bus station, will include improvements to lifts, stairwells and fire exits.

Kirklees Council said alternative parking is available at Springwood, Cambridge Road and Albion Street.

The council said it would also feature clearer signage, enhanced CCTV and improved fire and emergency lighting after reopening in summer.
