Family reunited with missing Texas A&M former student

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A Texas A&M former student who has been missing since early December has been located and taken to a hospital for evaluation.

According to her family, Sydney Marquez, 24, was recognized by a concerned citizen Saturday morning. They say that individual spoke with Sydney and alerted authorities as her parents rushed to the area.

The Marquez family said Jersey Village Police issued an Emergency Detention Order, and Sydney was transported to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Sydney Marquez had been missing since Dec.11. Her family has consistently expressed concern for her mental health and safety. She was located by Jersey Village Police and taken to the station on Jan. 2, but was released after they said she did not meet the criteria for emergency detention.

No additional details about her condition have been released at this time. KBTX has reached out to the Jersey Village Police Department for more information.
