Micah Johnson is calling it a career.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Monday that the star defensive lineman is retiring after an impressive 13-year playing career and joining the Riders as defensive line coach.

Among his many accomplishments, Johnson won three Grey Cups and received five All-CFL selections and seven divisional All-CFL nods.

Johnson arrived in the CFL in 2013 and spent his first six seasons with the Calgary Stampeders, helping them to Grey Cup titles in 2014 and 2018.

He then joined the Roughriders as a free agent in 2019 and played five seasons over two separate stints, spending 2019 and 2021 in Regina before joining the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2022. He then returned to the Riders in 2023, where he spent the last three seasons and helped his team win the 2025 Grey Cup this past fall against the Montreal Alouettes.

The 37-year-old from Columbus, Ga., had 20 defensive tackles and six sacks in 17 regular season games last year. He had a career-high 14 sacks while with the Stamps in 2018.
