North Yorkshire Police’s Organised Crime Unit seized huge hauls of Class A drugs worth more than £50,000 as part of a major operation.

The force said one member was found with £43,000 of high-purity cocaine in a backpack when he was arrested.

Officers said Tuohey had been involved in debt collection, which included making serious threats to get money.

The majority of the group had been jailed for between two and 10 years in 2024, however one member, Luke Atkin, had fled abroad.

He was jailed for 10 years in his absence and was subsequently given an additional four months in prison after he was extradited to the UK from Thailand.

Det Con Leah Kitchen said Tuohey’s sentence added to the “substantial total” members of the gang had already received.

“Through a diligent and extensive investigation, a serious organised crime gang has been dismantled and can no longer operate in North Yorkshire, with the eighth member now joining his colleagues who are already serving long prison sentences.”
