CP24’s Steve Ryan reports a man has died in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle in Brampton on Thursday afternoon.

Peel police are investigating after a person was struck by a vehicle and killed in Brampton Thursday afternoon.

In a post on social media, police said it happened just after 2:30 p.m. in the area of Royal West Drive and Williams Parkway, near Mississauga Road.

Peel paramedics told CP24 they transported an adult male with critical, life-threatening injuries to the hospital, and that life-saving measures were being performed while on the way.

In an update with CP24 at 5 p.m., Peel police said the male succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. They are working on identifying him so next of kin can be notified.

They said the driver remained at the scene.

Road closures are in effect in the area, including Mississauga Road northbound at Williams Parkway.
