Councillors are due to discuss the introduction of new powers to stop “excessive” horn use and pavement parking after residents complained of nuisance driving.

Hundreds of residents complained about dangerous and inconsiderate road users in Caterham, Surrey in a consultation run by the local authority.

A Tandridge District Council committee is due to discuss the responses on Tuesday and could vote to implement a public space protection order for the town centre.

This would mean drivers could be fined £100 if they park or drive on the area’s pavements, for horn overuse, or for “showing threatening or intimidating behaviour”.
