Scunthorpe United can regrettably confirm today’s scheduled Isuzu FA Trophy encounter against Clitheroe has been postponed due to a frozen pitch, and safety concerns around the Attis Arena.
Temperatures overnight plummeted to much lower levels than anticipated, resulting in the playing surface taking in some of the harsh frost, resulting in a frozen pitch. We also have to take into account spectator safety, with the areas around the Attis Arena currently deemed exceedingly unsafe.
A precautionary pitch inspection took place at lunchtime on Friday, with suitably qualified match official inspecting the Attis Arena playing surface, with communication to the appointed match referee Zac Kennard-Kettle. It was deemed that, if the game was to be played on Friday, the match would have gone ahead, and looking at the anticipated forecast there were no real concerns going into matchday.
We have been in close communication with our opposition, Clitheroe FC, and were aware of their travel departure times. As always, we consider as many factors as possible when taking into account the decision-making process, with attempting to prevent the majority of supporters travelling unnecessarily at the forefront of our mind, therefore taking the decision this morning prior to declared departure times, with no real possibility of the conditions improving.
As a result, the game will now be played on Tuesday, January 13th (7.45pm kick-off). All tickets remain valid for the rearranged fixture. As a result of the postponement, the ticket office will now be closed today.
For any refund requests, these will be processed from Monday when we’re next open. For online orders, please email sufctickets@scunthorpe-united.co.uk with your order number, and details of the tickets to be refunded and we will process them as quickly as possible. All tickets needing to be refunded must be requested prior to kick-off on Tuesday.
