A woman in her 80s has died after being struck by a tree branch in Mississauga, said police.

Officers responded around 2:30 p.m. on Friday near High Street E. and Lakeshore Road E. for a medical assist call, said Peel police in an emailed statement.

They located a woman who had been hit by a tree branch that had fallen due to high winds.

She was later pronounced dead at the hospital, said police.
