A 21-year-old man is facing 11 charges following a stabbing incident in the city’s east-end on Saturday that began over a cigarette dispute.

Police say just after 4 p.m., a man approached another man in his 60s outside a Burger King near Broadview Station on Broadview and Danforth avenues and demanded a cigarette from him. When the man refused, he was allegedly assaulted, and when he attempted to walk away, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed him before fleeing the scene

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the suspect then showed up at a store and allegedly took several items and left without paying for them. Investigators located him a short time later and placed him under arrest.

Lamarana Diallo, 21, of no fixed address, has been charged with three assault-related offences, possession of a weapon and theft under $5,000. Police say he was also charged with six counts of failing to comply with probation.
