A two-alarm fire in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood was reported around noon Sunday. At least two apartments are uninhabitable, the SFD says.
SEATTLE — A two-alarm fire in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood left two cats dead and two people injured early Sunday afternoon.
The fire was reported around noon at Olympic View Manor. Some residents complained about the response time of firefighters.
Seattle Fire Department spokesperson David Cuerpo told KING 5 the delay occurred because initial 911 calls reported an incorrect address, 13th Avenue, slowing crews from reaching the actual fire location. Additional calls coming in around 12:03 p.m. reported the corrected address on 13th Avenue South.
SFD says the first call 911 call came in at 11:58 a.m. That caller reported the wrong address on 13th Avenue. More 911 calls came in at 12:03 p.m., but this time the callers had the right address on 13th Avenue South.
The first engine arrived at the apartment complex at 12:08 p.m. By 12:10 p.m. the fire had been upgraded to a two-alarm response, bringing in about 75 firefighters.
One woman was rescued and taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the SFD. A firefighter was also treated for minor injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
