Rangers are increasingly confident they will land Danish star Andreas Skov Olsen on loan – and believe they CAN strike a deal to make it permanent.
Talks with the winger’s German club Wolfsburg have progressed over the last 24 hours and Ibrox bosses have even moved on to discussing personal terms that will cover an initial six-month loan. But there is also growing optimism in the Gers camp that their bold swoop for the 26-year-old could end up with Skov Olsen remaining in Glasgow beyond the current campaign.
The fine details have still to be ironed out with the Bundesliga outfit but Rangers are confident they won’t have to break the bank for the loan fee. And they also think it will be possible to negotiate an option to buy that involves a sum a good chunk cheaper than the £12million Wolfsburg spent when they signed the Denmark international from Club Brugge a year ago.
That news will delight a fanbase who have been left thrilled by the prospect of the club’s long-term target finally checking in at Ibrox and joining up with new boss Danny Rohl’s resurgent title chasers.
Skov Olsen first appeared on Rangers’ transfer watchlist during his time at Bologna in 2022 while Gio van Bronckhorst was in charge.
The Dutchman missed out when the ex-Nordsjaelland kid opted to make his move to Belgium. After three successful years with Brugge, where he blasted his way to almost 50 goals, Skov Olsen won another big switch, this time to Germany.

But with Wolfsburg struggling at the wrong end of the table and Skov Olsen a fringe figure having made just 24 appearances over the last 12 months, a quick-fire exit is on the cards for the 40-time Denmark cap.
He still has three and a half years left remaining on his Wolfsburg deal but Daniel Bauer’s side are content to let him leave so long as they can negotiate the right numbers.
Rangers will have to work fast, with a number of other clubs keeping tabs on Skov Olsen’s situation.
The Light Blues have already added £4m midfielder Tochi Chukwuani to Rohl’s squad, while Tuur Rommens is still expected to complete his £2.6m move from Westerlo having undergone his medical over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Oscar Cortes is on his way to Argentina after cutting short his loan at Spanish second division side Sporting Gijon.
The Colombian is to join Huracan for the 2026 South American season, with the Buenos Aires outfit holding an option to buy.
