The taxi driver has been named as 54-year-old Masrob Ali. The family of Mr Ali, who had worked as a taxi driver for around 10 years, described him as being ‘the gentlest soul’.
Five passengers from both vehicles remain in hospital for treatment, a GMP spokesperson said in an update on Monday. In the Citroen, a 29-year-old woman suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.

Detectives said they are ‘still in the early stages of the investigation’ into the crash. The Manchester Evening News revealed how a clip of a driver going at speeds of more than 120mph on a built-up street is forming part of the probe.
It is believed to have been filmed by an occupant of the Seat Leon involved in the fatal crash on Wigan Road, just shy of 24 hours after it was captured. Watch the video in full HERE.
