A dinnertime meal order in downtown Vancouver this week left one man with serious facial injuries and another charged with assault causing bodily harm.
The incident occurred on Monday, Jan. 12, shortly after 7 p.m. on Granville Street.
According to a release from the Vancouver Police Department, a suspect has been charged after allegedly punching a fast-food cook who refused to give him a free add-on topping for his burger.

“A 23-year-old man was working at a fast-food restaurant on Granville Street when a customer allegedly wanted free bacon added to his burger,” said the VPD on social media.
“When told that he’d have to pay for the add-on, the suspect allegedly went behind the counter, into the kitchen, and punched the cook in the face.”
The fast-food worker suffered a serious facial injury that VPD said required medical attention.
The suspect attempted to flee but was chased by another staff member of the fast-food establishment. He was soon arrested outside the restaurant by Vancouver Police Metro Team officers, who were in the area attending to an unrelated incident.
VPD also announced that the BC Prosecution Service has charged 24-year-old Jaxon Andre Carter with one count of assault causing bodily harm in the incident.
Metro Vancouver has seen several assaults recently that have caused major injuries.
A road rage incident during rush hour in Vancouver sent a 60-year-old woman to the hospital this week with serious injuries.
And another woman in her 60s was the victim of a stranger attack in her Vancouver apartment hallway.
