York police are currently investigating after a vehicle was shot at in a residential area of Vaughan. CP24’s Melissa Duggan reports from the scene.
York Regional Police are investigating after a vehicle was shot at in a Vaughan neighbourhood overnight.
Police say the shooting happened in the area of Madeira Avenue and Genoa Road, where a vehicle was parked in a residential driveway when it was struck by gunfire.
No injuries were reported have been reported at this time.
Investigators say the suspect is described as heavy set, wearing a black hat and a dark coat.
The Firearms Investigation Team is leading the investigation.
In a statement to CP24, Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca said: “This activity is completely unacceptable in Vaughan or in any other community for that matter.”

“I have been in touch with York Regional Police this morning and their investigation is ongoing. We need our federal and provincial partners to work together to toughen penalties, keep criminals behind bars and deliver real punishment for those who break the law.”
Police are warning residents to “expect a large police presence in the area” while the investigation continues and are asking the public to avoid the area if possible.
