The Manchester United fanbase were very split when asked their standout player from the emphatic derby victory over Manchester City.

In Michael Carrick’s first match as interim head coach, Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-0 to climb up to fifth in the Premier League table.

Statistics show that United humiliated City at Old Trafford. Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu were on the scoresheet, but the Red Devils also had three separate strikes chalked off for offside.

Carrick outclassed Pep Guardiola tactically and United were deserving winners, dominating in almost every area.

There were impressive performances everywhere you looked, so picking a standout player proved difficult for supporters.

United fought hard to keep a clean sheet and keep Erling Haaland quiet, and in attack, the frontline launched relentless counter-attacks all match.

Club captain Bruno Fernandes came out on top with 34% of the 10,000 votes submitted.

Goalscorer Bryan Mbeumo ranked second with 17% of the vote after he returned from AFCON and opened the scoring at Old Trafford.

The official Player of the Match award in the Premier League went to Casemiro, but the Brazilian was only good enough for fifth on the UIF rankings.

Carrick’s appointment meant a return to a 4-2-3-1 formation, and that means Fernandes can return to his favoured No.10 position.

Fernandes put on a masterclass and repeatedly got the best of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri throughout the match.

Remarkably, Fernandes created six chances against City. All of City’s players combined could not match his tally.

Despite Fernandes leaving Old Trafford with only one assist to his name, fans clearly noticed the incredible impact he had on the match.

Fernandes also had a goal of his own chalked off because of a narrow offside call after he rounded Gianluigi Donnarumma.
