A major route into Birmingham has been shut because of problems with overhead gantries, West Midlands Roads (WMR) has said.
The A38(M) Aston Expressway is shut in both directions, with no access to the entire road from any entry point, the body – part of Transport for West Midlands – posted on X.
The closure, affecting Spaghetti Junction, Gravelly Hill, Park Circus and Dartmouth Circus, happened shortly after 11:30 GMT. WMR warned drivers to expect delays and advised them to use Lichfield Road instead.
At about 14:10, it said the carriageway into the city had been temporarily reopened to relieve pressure and congestion being put on the motorway network, but the out-of-city lanes remained shut.
