The Denver Broncos are signing Ben DiNucci as their third-string quarterback after Bo Nix’s season-ending injury.

DENVER — The Denver Broncos are signing another quarterback following the season-ending ankle injury to Bo Nix.

The Broncos are signing quarterback Ben DiNucci to their practice squad, a source confirmed to 9NEWS Broncos Insider Mike Klis.

DiNucci will be the Broncos’ third-string quarterback on Sunday in the AFC championship game. Jarrett Stidham will be the starter and Sam Ehlinger will be the backup.

DiNucci, 29, is a football commentator for CBS Sports and was on the air Saturday night when Nix’s injury was announced. DiNucci previously was on the Broncos’ roster in 2023, but was released in May 2024.

“It has come to my attention that a team may be in need of my services,” DiNucci posted to X. “Good thing my schedule is open this week. Broncos Country… Let’s go get a Super Bowl?”

Nix led the Broncos to a 33-30 overtime AFC Divisional Round victory against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Empower Field at Mile High.

But on the fourth-to-last play, Nix suffered a fractured right ankle while trying to plant away from Bills safety Cole Bishop, who tackled the quarterback for a 2-yard loss.

Nix will have surgery on Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Broncos will host the New England Patriots in the AFC title game on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Empower Field at Mile High. The winner will advance to Super Bowl 60 on Sunday, Feb. 8.
