It’s been a decade since radio presenter and former The Project host Carrie Bickmore moved Logies viewers to tears with a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, Greg Lange. While accepting the Gold Logie in 2015, she spoke of Lange, who died in 2010 at age 34 after a nearly decade-long battle with brain cancer.

“On a night where fashion labels and borrowed jewels have historically ruled supreme, The Project’s Carrie Bickmore held the industry in her thrall as she brought a touch of humanity to the TV Week Logie Awards,” Michael Idato wrote. During the speech, Bickmore famously donned a blue beanie in honour of Lange, who wore them “throughout his cancer journey.”

This year, Bickmore paid homage to that iconic moment by wearing a J’Aton Couture gown, the same Melbourne designers who created her elaborate body-skimming white dress from that night.

“I wanted to celebrate the legacy she has built with her Beanie’s For Brain Cancer charity, announced in her iconic acceptance speech,” says stylist Elliot Garnaut. This time the beanie was left behind.

The liquid gold gown features 300,000 hand-sewn glass cut bugle beads and taking more than a fortnight to create.
