PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A suspect shot at Portland police Monday night and two officers have been taken to a hospital, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

The conditions of the officers were not immediately known.

Police are searching for the shooter in the Lloyd District and have blocked off a large area.

Police were called to an area at Northeast 17th Avenue and Clackamas Street at about 8:20 p.m.

According to Broadcastify, a service that records dispatch audio, one of the officers was shot in the leg, and the other was shot in the arm and the ear. Police have not confirmed that information.

At least 75 police units have responded to the area, according to dispatch information. That is an unprecedented number. Police have been seen dressed in tactical gear and carrying rifles. Officers told a KATU reporter to move back, telling him that the area was not safe. Officers also told people to stay indoors.

“We have an active tactical situation,” the Portland Police Bureau said in an email to KATU. We are activating SERT.”

The reporter observed two ambulances with lights and sirens going into the police perimeter.

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson is at the scene. Police are expected to provide more information soon.
