Two Portland police officers were hospitalized Monday night after a shooting in Northeast Portland. Tactical teams are searching for the suspect.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police have a wide area of Northeast Portland blocked off Monday night after a suspect shot at officers, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Two officers have been taken to the hospital by ambulance, police said in a press release issued Monday night. 

The bureau confirmed to KGW it is responding to an active tactical situation and has activated its Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team to search for the suspect in the Sullivan’s Gulch neighborhood.

The incident was first called out as a threat with a weapon at 8:22 p.m. near Northeast 17th Avenue and Northeast Clackamas Street, according to dispatch records.

More than 60 police units were called to the scene.

Numerous roads are closed between Northeast Broadway and Northeast Multnomah Street, Northeast 15th Avenue and Northeast 21st Avenue. No cars or pedestrian traffic are being allowed within the area, and people within are asked to stay inside with doors and windows closed and locked.

Officials are asking anyone with information about the location of the suspect or who sees anything suspicious within the perimeter to please call 911.
