US President Donald Trump has made his entrance at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, receiving a mixed reaction of applause and boos from spectators as he settles in to watch the 2026 CFB national championship game.

Trump is in Miami to witness the Miami Hurricanes go head-to-head with the Indiana Hoosiers in the 2026 CFP national championship on Monday, January 19.

As the national anthem played and Trump was featured on the big screen, a resounding wave of noise filled the stadium – initial cheers were met with boos from some sections of the crowd, reports the Express..

The match will see the top-ranked Indiana face off against the tenth-ranked Miami for the national title in Miami, Florida. The White House has confirmed that President Donald Trump will be present at the game, accompanied by Florida native Marco Rubio, the current Secretary of State and former senator of the sunshine state.

Trump’s attendance forms part of his itinerary for Martin Luther King Day, marking his third College Football Playoff (CFB) national championship game. He previously attended the 2018 Alabama Georgia game along with the 2020 Clemson LSU match-up.

While those in the stands are primarily there to savour the game, America and the world will be tuning in tonight with their attention firmly on the US President, who continues to ruffle feathers among European leaders with sanctions as he persists with his campaign to annex Greenland.

The match takes place just days after an NBA game was held in London on Sunday, during which a spectator from the crowd shouted out in protest against the US President’s endeavours regarding Greenland. The interruption was met with applause from the crowd following the US national anthem.

This incident underscored the escalating tensions over President Donald Trump’s efforts to acquire the Arctic island.
