The topic of Calgary is sure growing in the film world, and it just received a chilly shoutout, with Jennifer Lawrence calling the city the coldest set of her career.
Recently, on Amy Poehler’s Golden Globe-winning podcast, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Lawrence was asked what the hottest and coldest sets she had ever worked on throughout her career were.
She explained that many might think the correct answer is on one of the Hunger Games movie sets filmed on a frozen lake, but it was actually when she was filming Die My Love in Calgary with Robert Pattinson.
“It was August, so it was supposed to be warm, so there weren’t warming coats or anything, and you know I’m just in a t-shirt, so that was the coldest,” she explained.
It’s safe to say she wasn’t the biggest fan of Calgary’s weather, even admitting it brought her to tears, “That broke my heart and made me want to cry.”
Poehler shared a theory of hers, stating, “It’s never warm in Canada, never,” and Lawrence was quick to agree.
“I cried in my trailer to [producer] Justine [Ciarrocchi]. She was like ‘What’s wrong?’ and I was like ‘I’m just feeling really cold.’”
Die My Love was filmed around southern Alberta in 2024, after production crews were sent photos of a farmhouse just outside of Calgary that worked perfectly for the movie.
This isn’t the first time Lawerence has spoken about her time in Calgary. In an interview with Etalk, she reminisced about her time spent in the city while filming the movie.
