Tuesday marks the first anniversary of President Donald Trump being sworn into office for a second term. The year was marked by hundreds of executive orders, dozens of trips and more than 100 meetings with foreign leaders.
The White House said in a statement Tuesday, “One year ago today, President Donald J. Trump returned to office with a resounding mandate to restore prosperity, secure the border, rebuild American strength, and put the American people first. In just 365 days, President Trump has delivered truly transformative results with the most accomplished first year of any presidential term in modern history.”
Executive orders
Trump signed 229 executive orders — far more than his recent predecessors and the first year of his first term, when he signed 55 orders. President Joe Biden signed 77 executive orders during his first year in office, and President Barack Obama signed 40 executive orders in the first year of his first term and 20 executive orders in the first year of his second term.
The only modern president to have signed more executive orders in the first year of a term was President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who signed 381 orders during the first year of his third term in order to rapidly mobilize the country for World War II.
Pardons
According to an NBC News count, Trump has granted 88 pardons, not including the group of roughly 1,500 convicted Jan. 6 rioters he pardoned on his first day back in office and additional symbolic pardons for those involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Over half of Trump’s 88 individual pardons are for white-collar offenses and about half of the 88 recipients are either business executives or politicians. Trump has pardoned more people in one year than Biden pardoned in four.
Trump has also commuted the sentences of 36 people.
Trips abroad
Trump took eight trips abroad to visit 13 countries in the first year of his second term, including a trip to Asia, two trips to the Middle East, and two to the United Kingdom, with one of those a state visit, according to an NBC News tally.

The president made 56 trips outside the D.C. area in the last year, according to an NBC News count. Nine trips were taken to sites of disasters, nine trips were taken to swing states and two trips were taken to give commencement speeches at universities.
Interviews with media
Trump participated in over 100 news interviews since taking office, per an NBC News count, including 40 television interviews. This includes some, but not all, of the less formal phone interviews he often does with reporters. For comparison, Biden participated in only five interviews during his first year in office.
Meetings with foreign leaders
The president participated in more than 100 publicly known meetings with foreign leaders, including 49 meetings at the White House, according to an NBC News tally. He made dozens of trips in the U.S., including 18 trips to Mar-a-Lago, nine trips to Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey, nine trips to disaster sites, nine trips to swing states and two trips to deliver university commencement speeches.
Golf trips
The president made 106 visits to his various golf properties over the course of the past year, according to an NBC News count. He made 18 trips to Mar-a-Lago, totaling 77 days. He spent 23 days, across nine trips, at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in Bedminster, New Jersey.
He also attended 13 professional or collegiate sporting events, including the Super Bowl, UFC fights and, most recently, the NCAA college football national championship on Monday night.
