The TCH at the Southwest River Bridge has since reopened to one lane of traffic after a collision involving a tractor trailer earlier this week caused significant damage.
A traffic light has been set up allowing for alternating traffic and drivers can expect delays in the area.
The slowdown is expected to continue for the next couple of weeks.
Crews remain on the scene assessing the damage.
