The ministry said Vikram Singh and Harinder Sachdeva allegedly charged a fee for employment, misrepresented employment opportunities – “including misrepresentations respecting position, duties, length of employment, wages and benefits or other terms of employment” – threatened deportation or other action without lawful cause, and took unfair advantage of a foreign national’s trust or exploited their fear or their lack of knowledge or experience.
According to the ministry, the alleged offences by Singh happened at Taste of Battlefords, a North Battleford restaurant, between April and June of 2024. The alleged offences by Sachdeva took place at Taste of Battlefords and Rick’s Place in Humboldt between April and July of 2024.
The ministry encouraged anyone who believes their rights have been violated to contact its program compliance branch, which works to protect the rights of immigrants and foreign workers in the province.
“You do not need permission from anyone to contact the Program Compliance Branch, and all your information will be kept confidential,” the ministry noted.
