The Toronto Maple Leafs’ outdoor practice event has been moved indoors due to the extreme cold this upcoming weekend.

The weekend practice was originally scheduled from Saturday until Monday at the Westway Outdoor Rink, but the team said it will now host an open practice at the Mattamy Athletic Centre at Maple Leaf Gardens on Monday instead.

Temperatures in Toronto are expected to drop significantly starting on Friday morning. Environment Canada says that the temperature will drop to a low of – 12 C by 8 a.m. but feel like – 21 with the wind chill. By Friday night, the temperature will drop to – 22 C and feel like – 30 with the wind chill.

Saturday will see a high of – 15 C and a low of -18 C. The cold temperatures are expected to persist throughout the weekend.

Fans can sign up on Friday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. via Fan Access on the Maple Leafs App to win free, general admission passes to the open practice, the team said. They said that capacity is limited and that winners will be drawn and notified by end of day on Friday.

Fans can also tune into the practice via an exclusive live stream hosted on Maple Leafs social media channels.
