The TTC there is currently a “major disruption” to transit service in the downtown core following an injury on the tracks at Union Station.
At around 8:45 a.m., the transit agency reported the incident in a post on X.
There is currently no subway service on Line 1 (Yonge-University) both ways between College and Osgoode stations because of the incident, the TTC says.
Streetcar service is also suspended at Union. The 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina routes are bypassing Union and dropping off customers at the ferry docks.
The problem appears to be causing jam-ups at other busy stations as well.
“We are seeing overcrowding at St George and our Bloor-Yonge stations,” TTC Senior Communications Advisor Susan Nguyen told CP24. “So keep in mind, if those are your usual stations.”
Nguyen said shuttle buses are not being sent due to downtown Toronto traffic.
Customers are being advised to use streetcar routes where possible to transfer between the University side and the Yonge side.
“We’ve also partnered with our friends at GO Transit to provide an alternative service during this delay as well,” Nguyen said.
It’s not clear how long the closure will last.
As of 9:31 AM – Line 1 Yonge-University: No service between College and Osgoode stations while we respond to an injury on the tracks.Customers advised to utilize streetcar routes as alternative routing for travel from University side to Yonge side of Line 1/ Yonge-University. https://t.co/4SyVmKNfpW
