Head coach Sean Dyche shared the frustration of Nottingham Forest fans after his team were booed off following their 1-0 Europa League defeat to Braga.
The Reds’ hopes of qualifying automatically for the knockout stages of the competition suffered a blow on a miserable night in Portugal. It was a lacklustre showing from the visitors, with a Ryan Yates own goal 54 seconds after a missed Morgan Gibbs-White penalty proving decisive.
Boos could be heard from the 2,000-strong travelling supporters at half-time and at various points during the second half. After the final whistle, the away contingent made their feelings clear again as they vented their fury and jeered Dyche’s men.
Asked about the reaction, Dyche said: “Of course they are frustrated, I’m sure. They want to do well in this contest.

“We want to do well in it but we have got two contests going on and the bigger picture has to be the Premier League just because of the power of it. But this is a great competition that the club has waited a long time to get into.
“It is frustrating for me because we have changed the team in the other (Europa League) games and have had one draw and three wins – and probably we could have won the drawn game. It’s frustrating when that game is a flat one; the other games had a bit more energy and a bit more of a spark.
“I was waiting for that group to lay a marker down. They have been terrific all week in training. We had let them know really early they were going to play and they had been really up for it.
“It was a bit of a slow, methodical performance and nothing to it other than that. It was one minute of madness.

“If we had scored the penalty, the whole thing changes. But we didn’t.
“Yes, they are frustrated and of course I understand their frustration. There was a lot of expectation this season – I know because I lived in the area even before I was manager. Despite two managers and all the different players, they are still frustrated.
“I have said it is going to take time. We don’t have magic dust. We are working with these players every day to try to form into a big unit. The unit is important because of the game schedule. It isn’t just about the XI in the Premier League, it is about the whole group.”
