Schools boards in the region began announcing closures early Sunday evening as Environment Canada forecast that 60 or more centimetres of snow could fall in parts of the region tonight.

Toronto

All Toronto District School Board “schools, sites and administrative buildings (including Child Care centres) will be closed to students and most staff.”

Secondary exams scheduled for Monday will be postponed to another day this week and schools will share additional details directly with impacted students and families.

Toronto Catholic District School Board is closing all schools and board sites on Monday.“Bus transportation, childcare centres, before-and after-school programs, and permits are also cancelled,” a statement read.

Exams scheduled for tomorrow will be rescheduled for Jan. 29. Exams scheduled for Jan. 27 and Jan. 28 will proceed as planned.

St. Michael’s College School will be closed on Monday. All Classes and after-school activities are cancelled.

The Mabin School (independent elementary) will be closed to students and staff tomorrow.

York Region

York Catholic District School Board is closing all of its schools on Monday.

Secondary students with exams on Monday will have them rescheduled to Thursday. Tuesday and Wednesday’s exams will proceed as originally scheduled.

York Region District School Board announced that all schools and board locations are closed to students tomorrow.

Vaughan College Private School will be closed on Monday. Classes and after-school activities are cancelled and exams scheduled for Monday will be postponed to another day this week. Additional details will be shared directly with impacted students and families.

Durham Region

All Durham District School Board and the Durham Catholic District School Board school sites are closed on Monday.

Durham Student Transportation Services, which provides bus service for both both, has cancelled all service tomorrow.

Dufferin-Peel

All Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board schools and offices/facilities are closed to students and staff on Monday due to winter weather conditions.

Secondary exams scheduled for tomorrow will move to the designated Contingency Day.

Peel District School Board is closing all schools and worksites on Monday. All activities located in the schools, including childcare, night school and permits are also cancelled.

Exams scheduled for Monday will be rescheduled to Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the same time. Exams scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27 (Period 4 classes) will continue as planned.

White Pines Montessori Academy, in Mississauga, will be closed tomorrow due to the weather.

Halton

Halton District and Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) schools and administrative centers will be closed, and transportation services are cancelled in Zones 1, 2 & 3 for Jan. 26, 2026.

“This decision was made with the safety of students, families, and staff as our top priority, given the significant snowfall in our region, and deteriorating road conditions overnight and into the morning,” HCDSB said.

Hamilton

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is closing all schools, administrative buildings, and workplaces, including the Education Centre, tomorrow.

All learning (in-person and remote), and childcare has been cancelled on Monday.

Exams for secondary students are postponed and have been rescheduled for Tues., Jan. 27.

“Today’s snowfall continues to impact road conditions and snow removal, resulting in transportation being cancelled,” the board said.

Niagara

The District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) and Niagara Catholic District School Board is closing all schools/offices on Monday and bus service.

Exams and final culminating activites for DSBN secondary students will be posponed by a day.

Niagara Children’s Centre School Authority is also closing its school and cancelling buses on Monday.

French-language school closures/bus cancellations

Conseil Scolaire Viamonde, the French-language public board in southwestern Ontario, is closing its schools and child care centres on Monday in York, Durham, Toronto, Peel, and Halton. more closures may be annouced, the board said.

Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir, the local French Catholic board, is closing some of its schools tomorrow “as snow removal operations will not be completed in time for the start of the school day.”

The affected regions include Toronto, Peel, Halton, York, Durham, Peterborough, Hamilton, and Niagara, as well as Guelph, Brant, Norfolk, and Waterloo.

The board says it will decide tomorrow morning, if school in other regions will be closed “based on evolving weather and road conditions.”

All exams scheduled for tomorrow are postponed in all regions. The board says schools will communicate directly with affected students and families regarding the revised exam schedule.

“We thank families and staff for their patience and understanding,” a spokesperson said.

Post-secondary

Humber Polytechnic is moving to remote delivery of classes and services, whenever possible, on Monday due to the nclement weather and cleanup. As a result, all campus locations, including the University of Guelph-Humber, will be closed tomorrow.

The Humber Child Development Centre will also be closed.

Residences will remain open.

All George Brown classes and services for Monday will be moving online, where possible, and campuses will be closed. This also includes childcare centres and WAVE clinics. In-person labs will be cancelled.

Students on clinical and work placements should follow their employer’s policies regarding severe weather expectations. ECE students will not have placements.
