A dog walker stopped the attack

A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in an alleyway near a college over the weekend.
Devon and Cornwall Police were notified at 9:20pm last night (Sunday, January 26) of a sexual assault by an unknown male in an alleyway in Launceston.
The incident happened near Launceston College.
Police said that the victim managed to escape when the attack was disturbed by a dog walker.
A police helicopter could be heard above the town, and patrol units were also deployed, added the force.
Police located the suspect, a man in his 30s, a short time later.
Officers arrested the man on suspicion of sexual assault, and he remains in police custody.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses and relevant footage following a sexual assault in Launceston.
“We were called at around 9.20pm on Sunday 25 January following a report a 17-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by an unknown male in an alleyway by Launceston College.
“The victim managed to escape when the assault was disturbed by a dog walker.
“Patrol units and the force helicopter were deployed.
“Following immediate enquiries, a man in his 30s was located a short time later and arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He remains in police custody at this time.
