Robert Ladouceur, 52, had been considered potentially ‘armed and dangerous’ when police released his name Friday afternoon; investigation continues along Anne Street
The suspect in an ongoing investigation at a local homeless encampment is in Barrie police custody Saturday night.
Robert Ladouceur, 52, had been considered potentially “armed and dangerous” when city police released his name Friday afternoon.
No details of the arrest were released Saturday in a social-media post from Barrie police around 10:30 p.m.
Ladouceur has been identified as the primary suspect in the ongoing investigation at a homeless encampment on Victoria Street, a wooded area near Anne and John streets. Police said he had been wanted for unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Police have yet to release many details around the investigation, which began Wednesday evening.
Police say further details will be provided “as the investigation permits.”
On Saturday afternoon, a large section of the encampment and adjoining natural area remained cordoned off by police tape, right out to the sidewalk along Anne Street.
Police previously said detectives believed Ladouceur was in the company of a female and driving a grey, four-door 2013 Dodge Avenger with the licence plate DDKJ 754. No other arrests were announced Saturday night.
A Barrie police tip line is also available at 705-725-7025, ext. 2160, should anyone wish to speak directly with investigators.
