The National Weather Service on Saturday night was growing more concerned about the potential for flash flooding in part of Alabama.
Forecasters have issued a flood watch for part of central Alabama that will be in effect until 7 a.m. Sunday.
The counties in the flood watch are Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Elmore, Etowah, Jefferson, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega and Tallapoosa.
The weather service has been tracking very slow-moving storms that have dumped heavy rain on the central part of the state through the evening hours.
Forecasters said storms overnight could dump 2 to 4 inches of rain in a short timeframe, which could cause potentially deadly flooding, which will be much harder to see at night.
Several flash flood warnings had been issued for part of the region as of Saturday night.
More rain will be possible across all of Alabama on Sunday
