Snow squall warning

BELOW IS A WARNING FROM ENVIRONMENT CANADA FOR PART OF THE QUINTE REGION

1:05 a.m.  Tuesday, January 27, 2026

Forecast Confidence: High

Snow squalls expected today.

What: Significantly reduced visibility in heavy snow and local blowing snow. Local snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm.

When: Early this morning through this afternoon. Where: Primarily along and south of the Highway 401 corridor. Additional information: Lake effect snow squalls will impact the area beginning early this morning before moving south of the area this afternoon.

Westerly winds gusting near 50 km/h will result in local blowing and drifting snow. Poor visibility due to intense snowfall rates and local blowing snow will be the predominant hazard.

Travel will likely be hazardous. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
