Canadians will soon be saying goodbye to Air Miles and hello to a new rewards program from BMO.
On Monday, BMO Financial Group announced that the Air Miles program will transition to Blue Rewards, offering millions of members a “simple, flexible way to earn and redeem rewards.”
The new rewards program will launch this summer and will continue to be run by a subsidiary of BMO. According to the bank, Blue Rewards will offer greater flexibility, more benefits, expanded partnerships, and a new streamlined digital experience, allowing millions of members to earn and redeem in innovative ways.

“We’re excited to introduce a loyalty experience that fits seamlessly into Canadians’ lives,” said Shawn Stewart, president of Blue Rewards, in a statement. “With more ways to earn, more places to redeem and a growing network of partners, Blue Rewards is designed to help members find more value in their everyday purchases.”
The rewards program will be available through a new Blue Rewards app. BMO clients will be able to access it through seamless integration with the bank’s mobile banking app and online banking platform.
What happens to your Air Miles?

Wondering about how this will affect the points you’ve earned in the Air Miles program?
BMO says Air Miles collectors can continue to use their cards and will see their points automatically converted to the new, Blue Points at the equivalent value in summer 2026. No action is required from you.
BMO Air Miles credit and debit card holders can also continue using their cards uninterrupted and will receive full program details in the coming months.
How will the Blue Rewards program work?
Members of the new rewards program will earn one simple type of reward point — Blue Points.
You’ll also have access to a new, simplified travel redemption platform for flights, hotels, and car rentals powered by Expedia Group.
Canadians will be able to earn rewards at over 400 brands, including Fairmont Hotels, Porter Airlines, Instacart, and Pharmasave.
However, BMO notes that Air Miles’ partnership with Shell Canada will end on May 25, 2026, nationally, and on March 2, 2026, in Alberta. Collectors can continue to earn Air Miles at Shell gas stations until then.
Blue Rewards members will also be able to earn points at grocery retailers and wholesale clubs across Canada when they scan their receipts using the Blue Rewards app.
BMO Chequing Account holders can also opt in to earn Blue Points on gas, grocery, wholesale and EV charging purchases when using their debit card.
Canadians will also be able to get a BMO Blue Rewards credit card, which includes benefits like enhanced accelerators from participating business partners and benefits that could go towards a dream vacation.
Credit cardholders will also be eligible to earn Blue Points across all linked BMO credit card products.
If you’re interested in the Blue Rewards credit card, you can apply on the pre-launch waitlist. Waitlist members will be entered for a chance to win prizes, including a chance to win 1 million Blue Points and receive an exclusive welcome offer available when the new cards launch.
