An overnight crash on Highway 410 in Brampton left one man with life‑threatening injuries and shut down the northbound lanes for hours on Wednesday as police pieced together a chaotic chain of events that began with a two‑vehicle crash and ended with a driver fleeing on foot.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near Clark Boulevard. OPP say the incident began as a two‑vehicle collision. The drivers involved then exited their vehicles and were speaking on the roadway when a third vehicle approached and struck one of them.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said a male was rushed to the hospital with life‑threatening injuries. Two others were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Another person fled on foot before officers arrived, and investigators are still working to determine why they left and where they may have gone.
“Efforts to locate them are ongoing,” Schmidt said, urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact the Mississauga OPP.
OPP told 680 NewsRadio that a tractor‑trailer was among the vehicles involved, along with a blue and silver vehicle.
All northbound lanes of Highway 410 from Steeles Avenue East to Queen Street East remain closed as collision reconstruction officers examine the scene. The closure is expected to last until 10 a.m.
