A man was stabbed on Mayview Avenue in central Ottawa on Wednesday night and later died in hospital, according to first responders.

Police and paramedics were called to the residential street in Carlington around 7:10 p.m.

Paramedics told CBC News an adult man was stabbed and taken to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.

Hours later, police said he had died from his injuries.

Two people are in custody, according to police, who said they do not believe there is any ongoing risk to public safety.

Police have not named the victim, saying on Wednesday night they hadn’t yet contacted his friends and family. They said Thursday morning they had not laid any charges.

The investigation continues.
