DANNY Röhl says his Rangers side are excited to test themselves against Porto tomorrow evening as they look to conclude their UEFA Europa League campaign on a high.

The Gers make the trip to Portugal in their final league phase match looking to extend their eight-game winning run in all competitions.

The side picked up their first three points in Europe at home to Ludogorets six days ago and will be keen to halt the momentum of a Porto side who sit top of Liga Portugal.

Speaking to the media to preview the match, the Head Coach said: “In the last weeks we have shown we can win a lot of games.

“We have faced nearly every opponent in this time, all the strong opponents, and we have done really well as a group.

“We have took points in Europe and I think tomorrow we will have a big challenge ahead of us. You can feel it when you come in the stadium.

“I was here eight years ago with RB Leipzig and I know the stadium. I look at the faces of my players and you can see the excitement. Everyone wants to play.

“But for me it’s also important to have a little bit of rotation because we have the Sunday game in our head.

“We want to perform tomorrow on our best level. We will face an opponent who are also on a run.

“I think in their last ten games they have won nine and drawn one. They have a lot of clean sheets and are very well organised and coached. Francesco [Farioli] has done a fantastic job here so far.

“We know the next couple of weeks are very crucial for us to get points in different competitions. It starts tomorrow.

“When you are a part and travel here then you cannot just be a guest. We want to be a nasty guest and nasty opponent, and we want to try something here.”

On the fitness of his squad, the German continued: “We have some players not with us. Dujon [Sterling] is not with us, but he will train tomorrow.

“Our new signings are not available. Danilo is not with us because he and his wife are expecting a baby soon.

“Joe [Rothwell] has more problems, but he should be okay and it’s nothing serious. All the other players are with us.”

The Portuguese hosts currently reside outside of the automatic qualification positions on goal difference and will be keen to ensure there are no slip ups tomorrow evening.

Röhl wants his Gers players to be ready from the get-go as a result, and was asked what he wants to see most from his side.

He added: “A clean sheet. I said this after the Ludogorets game.

“In Europe we also have the chance to win games. We know this team tomorrow has weapons.

“We will see tomorrow why they’re top of the table and have taken a lot of points.

“They have pressure tomorrow. They want to qualify directly and they will come with a lot of energy to win.

“We need to be ready at the beginning of the game, be well organised, and we have to understand when we have to press high and when we need to stay deep and compact.

“If we find the balance right, find our moments, then we have the chance to get something.”
