KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (WTVD) — Interstate 85 northbound in Kannapolis has reopened hours after several crashes left more than 100 vehicles stranded on the highway.

The lanes were reopened shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday between mile markers 60 and 63.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said it would take several hours to clear the area and allow people to drive away. There were at least 30 tractor-trailers stalled among the scores of vehicles stuck on the roadway, ABC affiliate WSOC reported.
