Officers say they are ‘keeping an open mind’

Police say they are investigating how a man found stricken on one of south Manchester’s main roads came to be injured.

The 61 year-old was found ‘unresponsive’ on Plymouth Grove in Longsight at around 9pm on Friday (January 30). He is currently being treated for head injuries.

“It is currently unknown how than man came to be in the road,” Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. The force say they are ‘keeping an open mind’ with one possibility that he was hit by a vehicle.

The investigation is being led by GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU). They are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may be able to help their enquiries, to come forward.

PC Megan Stockton, from the SCIU, said: “We have an open mind as we investigate how this man became to be injured; however, there is the possibility he was struck by a vehicle.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, particularly anybody who may have dashcam footage taken in the area on Friday night.
