Hampshire police officers attended a property in Hythe after concerns were raised and found the body of a man in his 40s.
His death is not currently being treated as suspicious, police said.
A cordon remains in place at the address while inquiries continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death.
The discovery in Hythe is believed to be linked to a separate incident in Torquay, Devon, where emergency services were called just before 4pm on Friday, January 31.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers attended a house on Shirburn Road following concerns for the welfare of a woman.
The woman, who was in her 70s, was found deceased inside the property.
Her death is being treated as unexplained and a cordon remains in place at the Torquay address while detectives carry out further investigations.
Police have confirmed the man found in Hythe and the woman in Torquay are believed to have been known to each other.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Pebworth, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said officers are working closely with colleagues in Hampshire as part of the ongoing investigation.

He added: “Officers are carrying out inquiries to establish exactly what has happened and cordons are in place to allow for a thorough investigation of both addresses.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area and we encourage anyone to speak with officers if they have any concerns.”
Next of kin for both the man and the woman have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Residents in Hythe may notice an increased police presence in the area as inquiries continue.
Police have stressed there is no wider risk to the public but are encouraging anyone with concerns or relevant information to speak to officers.
