Celtic have continued their unbeaten domestic run under Martin O’Neill with a solid win against a battling Falkirk side.

Falkirk have proved to be tough to break down this season and have impressed under the guidance of John McGlynn.

Kasper Schmeichel was forced into an early wonder save while the full-back duo of Julian Araujo and Kieran Tierney caught the eye.

Tierney has looked back to his best of late and continued his run of form with a brilliant cross for Tomas Cvancara. The striker kept calm and composed to guide his header in off the post and gave the Hoops a deserved lead.

One person who can’t stop scoring right now is Benjamin Nygren and he continued his epic run of form with a brilliant solo effort that went flying past Scott Bain to take his tally to 15 for the season.

Those three points keep the title race alive and also mean that O’Neill has won six home games in a row without conceding for the first time as the Hoops manager.

Celtic player ratingsKasper Schmeichel – 6

Made a superb save in the first half when the score was 0-0 that could have changed everything. Had very little to do after, but it’s another clean sheet on the board and a confidence boost.

Julian Araujo – 8

Exceeded all expectations since coming in on loan. A real passion merchant who did his defensive duties perfectly.

Dane Murray – 6

Was given the nod ahead of Stephen Welsh, which shows the trust O’Neill has in him. The defender did well despite a few potential wobbles.

Liam Scales – 7

Another solid display at the back from our man mountain at centre-back.

Kieran Tierney – 8

Crossing was magnificent and the full-back always leads by example in the side. One of his best in a Celtic shirt this season.

Callum McGregor (C) – 6

Had a lot more time on the ball than he has been used to of late. Worked to his advantage and he allowed the more creative players in the team to express themselves as he mopped up with the dirty work.

Arne Engels – 6

Quieter display from Engels this week. There has been lots of transfer noise that has featured his name. Maybe that is playing on his mind.

Nygren has the ability to look like he is offering nothing before coming up with something brilliant in a split second. 15 goals from midfield is no mean feat and having a player like that is a luxury these days.

Hyunjun Yang – 6

Substituted early in the second half but we’re not really sure why. Could be illness or an injury but the winger managed to have some bright moments and produce some decent crosses.

Daizen Maeda – 6

Made a couple of decent runs in the first half before being moved into the number nine position following Cvancara’s substitution. Couldn’t get into the game after that and does look tired.

Tomas Cvancara – 8

The perfect home debut for the new Bhoy. O’Neill may not think he is a target man but he offers so much more when playing up front. An excellent finish and hopefully the first of many.

Tomas Cvancara is off the mark for Celtic!

How many goals will he score this season?
